But the wheel is one of our greatest inventions and the bicycle is of course the greatest. It is the most efficient form of movement on the surface of this planet, and the many more like it. The mountain bike is the most practical, and dare I say, pinnacle of the bicycle’s evolution, so far. It will climb mountains, traverse gnarly single track and descend impossible slopes unbroken. And yet it can still transport my 88 year old father down to the shops, in comfort and safety.  Late to arrive but here to stay. It will go anywhere on most any surface and has single-handedly transformed bicycling around the western-world.

We embraced the mountain bike in the mid eighties and have never looked back. This web site is a personal reflection of mountain biking from its humble beginnings, through the early explorations of  New Zealand's mountains, river-valleys and coasts, with a bit of everything in-between, tramping, old mine relics, huts, humans and animals.
